Boy, did they underestimate that. Bruce Campbell really should have been a ticketed event... I got there at 6:20 and the downstairs of the U Bookstore was crammed. I didn't end up sticking around for the signing because I was too frazzled, but interested parties can read what happened to [livejournal.com profile] lithera. The half-hour that I did get to see (for some value of "see") Mr. Campbell was very amusing, and the fans were great. I was standing by a guy who had a chainsaw he could wear over his hand and wanted to get it signed. I hope they had a good variety of pens.

I was also reminded of just how great the U Bookstore is, especially in the SF department. They somehow manage to have a copy of Bridge of Birds on the shelf most of the times I go in there, and that's a highly esteemed and thoroughly out of print book. They also had pseudonymously authored books under the name of the actual author, and I found the book I wanted (new Tamora Pierce yay!) and several more besides.

New Tamora Pierce? Which one?

Protector of the Small: Squire.

Tamora Pierce is my main comfort author, and I was just reading Page night before last and decided to check whether Squire was out yet. Lucky me. Either she writes at lightning speed these days, or she completes a whole quartet and then they start publishing them, because she's got something new every six months, if that long.

I read Squire over six months ago. It's not that new. I've been waiting for the next for for awhile now.

Okay. I hadn't seen it before last night, and I had looked... Wonder if she has a web page.

It does look as though the hardcover just came out in June. How'd you get it?

Huh. Maybe I'm just smoking something and I dreamt I read it. It is entirely possible.

What a goofball! You might have left before this happened, but ever so often, he would say into the microphone, "Prepare to receive candy," and would throw candy into the crowd! My husband and I got home at 11 last night. We ended up standing for something like four hours! But oh, it was worth it to get autographs and pictures, which I'll post hopefully over the weekend.

Eeeek!

rosefox: Green books on library shelves. (frubbly happy laughing)

I've been reminding myself since forever to get copies of the Lioness books, because I borrowed them from a friend years ago and loved them so much. I'd totally forgotten the author's name, and then two days ago I was thinking "Must look those up on amazon" and then I saw this and went "Wait... is that the author of those books I keep meaning to get?", and she's written more stuff, and wow. *) Thank you so much for this memory-jogger and the URL to her site. Much purchasing will likely ensue.
