From Nukees today:

"Disembodied delusional voices agree with my crippling despair! Things are looking up!!"

This morning isn't that bad, but boy are we having network problems.
I have been on the phone all day. ARGH. And it's not going to get any better, and people are calling me seven times to get updates, and there are no updates to give. Damn it.

Positive thing: My supervisor was really great about telling me a lot about what's going on. There's a fair amount of stuff that I really can't tell anyone else, including my colleagues, but at least she respects me enough to tell me the truth. It's very cool. (And I'm going to try to validate that trust by not saying anything else about what's going on, so expect a quiet LJ day. Heh.)
What a great lunch. Relaxing in Taco Del Mar reading Lyonesse, riding back to work with raindrop kisses amid the hot sun on my arms and face, being just in time to stand at my bridge as it opened...

And then I came back to stress and some rather large irony.

Oh life. :)
It's a very nice evening. Very, Very nice, in fact. I just got killed in Chrono Cross, but, you know, I sort of had my concentration messed with a bit by the telephone ringing off the hook (no hyperbole -- they can do that when they have two lines, the little bastards) all day at work. So, dinner. I needed protein after my excessive snacking at work today, so I stir-fried some chicken and fresh basil and garlic in olive oil and added some fresh chopped tomatoes. It's happy-making to eat so much garlic; I have just given myself an acknowledgement that I need not see or breathe on anyone for the rest of the evening. Yay!

Things I love:
Solitude. Discovery. Plants. Wim. The Fremont bridge. Creation. Reading. My senses -- sight and hearing are probably the most useful, and there are things of beauty to be seen and heard, but taste and touch are my major sources of sensual delight. The sun, the moon, and the stars, not necessarily in that order. My cats. Quiet. Clouds. Rivers, oceans, lakes. Northampton, MA, USA. Seattle, WA, USA. Flying over mountains.

Okay, I almost put "Canadian Coke" on that list, but not quite.

Things I love:
RAIN! How could I forget rain?
I looked up from writing down the songs that turned out to be on an unlabeled tape -- you know how it is, go to make a mix tape and find that the blank tape is not blank -- because I heard a great rushing noise. I looked out the window and saw a thick clump of big raindrops illuminated by the streetlight. "Oh YEAH!" I exclaimed, and rushed onto the balcony to stick my bare forearms and face out into the deluge. That wasn't enough, so I yanked off my sweater and hung as far over the railing as I could in my tank top. I think I entertained a passer-by, but the rain eased off pretty quickly, as it mostly does around here. I fondly believe that it was a flash of lightning I saw, though. It's still raining at above-average volume, but it doesn't quite measure up to that rush.
May I have some thunder, please?
