Um. Yeah, sure, great idea. Let's make sure salmon are still protected as an endangered species. What? You mean they need places to live? Bah.

They'll just have to learn to deal with warm, silty streams instead of cool, gravelly streams.

I'd like to restate for the record that, when I am made God Emperor, I shall institute mandatory reversible sterilisation for everyone, and that I shall enforce a one-child limit for the next few generations. That or I'll set a few billion people on fire, terrible fire!

I've had real trouble respecting this whole debate since I found out that most of the salmon runs in Seattle are artificial. My grandfather remembers when the Cedar River run was started.

You've got my vote.

If part of the agreement with the builders was that artificial runs would be built, I would be a lot more okay with this. I am not okay with the Fisheries people just going, "Oh, we're going to lose anyway, so never mind."

Was it the sterilisation, or the fire? I'm still working out the balance between carrot and stick, and I'd like some opinions.

Well, we know which one Kat likes. :) I'm more for the sterilization myself.

I think I will stick with the stated order, and save the fire for districts that are particularly insolent. I will go ahead and double my order of orbital death satellites, though.

There is also the fact that many of the "artificial" salmon runs are there because we've already obliterated so many of "natural" ones through damming and development.

Some people should just not have children.

Though you cannot ignore the coolness of orbital laser platforms.

I mean... c'mon.

it's not science if there aren't lasers in it

I kept asking for some at my last job but my manager kept telling me we didn't have the budget. He also refused to give me a magic pony.

Damn it. Bosses don't give you stuff like they should. I mean, I want to go back to Italy, but will the company pay for it... Noooooo.

Bah. Jobs.

How did he expect you to pop your popcorn without lasers? Someone should talk to the UN Humans Rights Commission about this guy.

To be fair he was in favour of orbital death satellites, albeit nervous at me having control of them. Even after I promised to warn folks we knew in major cities before dropping 500-metre space rocks on them.
