choices

I am definitely glad to be home. (And it feels very odd to be planning another vacation of longer than a week... it's not happening until July, but I just got back!) I hadn't realized how much I missed our sharply knapped blue and white mountains. There was plenty of dramatic scenery in the parts of England I was in, but it wasn't the familiar surprise of Seattle's mountains. It was probably a good move to go somewhere completely different during the end of winter, though, because now I get to come back and see that it's light until 5:30 in the evening. Yay! That's not nearly as good as it's going to be, but missing part of the process makes me feel better about how fast it's going.

So, about those choices. I was at an import shop yesterday having a mod chip put into the Playstation, and I saw the opening FMV of Final Fantasy X. Wow. I'd seen a battle screen in action in England, but this game keeps looking better and better. I just want an English-subtitled version with Japanese audio so I don't have to listen to the English voice actors. Okay, the little bit I heard wasn't so bad; the guy sounded like a Saturday morning cartoon hero, but he did have inflection. I didn't hear any girls talk, though, and that is where they always go horribly wrong.

Anyway, the choice is, do I spend my money on a lovely, wonderful Playstation 2 so I can play the extremely nifty game -- cons: I just got the PSX modded and should've waited and done a PS2 if I'm getting one; possible horribleness of voices in nifty game; don't really play that many games -- or buy the corset I've been wanting. (Cons of the corset are that I would probably use it even less often and that there are only so many games that can be played using it, though they are highly entertaining. Also, I might change size in some difficult way.) I have to wonder how many other people are facing similar choices.

I suppose, really, I could do both. My parents sold my beloved car to someone who will really appreciate her (really. He already has a new engine all built to go in.) and sent me the money, so I have a fair windfall. But I've just been to England and it's costing a bit of money to get Vib-Ribbon to work, and I just wouldn't feel right about being irresponsible twice. Once is fine, of course.

I suppose I'm asking for votes. Anyone?

i have never really understood the appeal of console games, so i would be voting for the corset even if i wasn't hoping to get to see you in it.

Oh, you would definitely get to see the corset. I would have to wear it at every opportunity to make it worth the investment, you know.

buy both and play the video game in the corset. sell them all when you're tired of them. and then buy more.

I agree with Betsy... besides, you just modded the PSX, and in any case a PS2 will be cheaper in a year, while the corset is only likely to get more expensive.

An excellent point!

I'm definitely more of a game-player than a corset-wearer, so you can guess what my vote'd be. ;)

BTW... we need to plan the trilobite expedition. :) :) :) Every time I think about going digging for trilobites, I get all bouncy.

Hee... that reads like a school team chant: "TRI-LO-BITE! TRI-LO-BITE!"

I really really really need to get a picture of a trilobite for a userpic. I also really really need to funnel some more money into LJ, so I can continue to have multiple userpics. :)

Trilobite! Expotition of trilobite-digging-nesses! Huzzah!

Maybe a long weekend in May or June? I'm planning some time in the Midwest during July (yes, I am crazy), so it shouldn't be too close to that...

Weeeellll... I have a spring break sometime in May I think. Getting time off from work shouldn't be a proble, and school is probably doable in any case. Spring is good. I bought a trowel! I have plans on digging up the backyard and looking for more marbles and silver dollars and cool stuff. I doubt I'll find any trilobites out back, though. But I have a trowel!

... I seem to be random today. :)

I'd go corset, but I suspect you could have guessed that. :)

I really have no idea how you feel about console games, though. :)

I think if you got both, and invited a fella over, and he saw you playing a PS2 while wearing the corset, you'd take his head clean off. So go for both, if you like that sort of thing.

Ha!

Surely the hardcore gamerness of my modded Playstation (complete with PAL-to-NTSC video converter so I can play my l33t Euro games) would also sway a fella somewhat.

I think you're getting me all tingly.

Er, but, ah, no, seriously. I think that's the sort of thing you'd want to break in gradually. You don't wanna give the guy a heart attack. And anyway, would you really want someone to like you just for your console?

There's probably a lame pick-up line in there somewhere.

geek corset-appreciating girls can probably take more
major shocks all at once, you could try it out on us
first and then we could help you determine if it's too much
for the more sensitive boys.
