not cut out for biking?
Dec. 31st, 2001 09:32 amSo I fell down again.
I was zipping along on my way to work, in the damp and wet, when suddenly the headlight decided it wanted to fly free. (I think it's faulty; it's got a latch you're supposed to have to press to let it come off, which always works fine when I'm not trying to go anywhere.) It fell down and broke into several pieces, and I stopped to pick it up. Unfortunately, my reflexes are used to having brakes that don't work, so I didn't stop gradually enough. Boom. I slowed down enough that nothing was seriously damaged, and I somersaulted nicely, but I've got skinned bits and a hell of a swollen knee. Bleah.
I retrieved the headlight pieces that I could find. My priority was the new rechargable batteries, and I found all of those. The headlight still works, amusingly enough, though the bits don't stay together any more. I had been carrying vitamins in glass bottles; one bottle broke and one lid broke, so I had fun sorting pills from finely smashed glass.
I'm pretty much okay, though the ice pack on my knee is making me cold. The reason I'm going to urgent care is that, while I don't recall hitting my head, I had weird prismatic visual effects in the left side of my vision for about an hour (with either eye, which I thought was odd). I'm going there at 12:30.
Also, I would like to give thanks for my large hips, without which my pants would have been pulled down entirely instead of just baring the belly on which I slid.
