Cruelty to animals:
I just looked at a friend's blog, which has a display of adoptable animals at shelters near where the friend lives. Oh, so sweet! A husky! Named... Musky. Someone shoot the former owners, please, now.

Why English is hard to learn, part 937554:
I have had "My Friend" by Michal running through my head for days now, and, while I like the song, I am beginning to lose enthusiasm for the idea that I could get her cd and hear other songs. They may all be this clinging, which is a scary thing. I already have cub and the Fastbacks. Anyway, lyrics tend to mutate in my head when I don't pay attention, so I noticed that the actual lyric "if you stop to breathe" means something very different from "if you start to breathe." I knew our prepositions were arbitrary, but this particular difficulty hadn't occurred to me before.
