noticing something new
Dec. 2nd, 2014 12:06 pmSo I reread this over the weekend, because somehow curses and pedophilia add up to a comfort read in this case, and I noticed a thing. When Kyra goes to the wizards at the end, Rosamund says to her, "you're a little old for what we know of his tastes." And Kyra is super relieved and happy to be with them, which okay, she is being accepted as a wizard after being rejected by her father, and they agree that she had a reason to get Tibbeth killed, I get it.
But did it ever occur to her that this means the wizards knew Tibbeth was a molester and didn't stop him? Or curtail him in any way, really -- they may have thought Kyra was safe (or been fooled by the sneakiness), but shouldn't they have kept a closer eye on him to spare Gyvinna, who got groomed into marrying him? I don't think Kyra would have gone into her vows of noninterference so happily if she'd quite put that together.
