talking to my parents last night
Sep. 21st, 2001 03:22 pm[talking about how I never call]
Mom: "I guess you just don't need me any more, huh?"
Kylee: "... I called you a week and a half ago! ... On the 11th!"
M: "How do you know that?"
K: "Um, because it was the day the World Trade Center fell down?"
M: "Oh. Oh yeah."
[talking about how I had to leave college due to illness -- a topic sure to depress me, because they refused to pay for me to go back]
Dad: something about how "you left school"
Kylee: "... ..." (new respect for Squaresoft games where people say this a lot)
Mom: "She didn't leave school. I dragged her out... kicking and screaming."
"And she just hasn't gotten back to it yet. You'll get there, right?"
and some other encouraging stuff
Wow. Thank you, Mom. I'm still bummed out, but thank you.
Kylee: "I guess nobody really has the perfect job."
Mom: (very promptly) "I do!"
Hee. I'm glad she's so happy. She works for this guy who, from all description and evidence, walks on water. (In my little geode-hunting saga, he's the one who gave her money to buy herself a treat to keep in the office, and she got a wonderful set of stone bookends.) She's really enjoying her work. I hope she moves to the city soon so her commute quits taking so long. Ferry rides are lovely, but twice a day, ack.
