I have come to realize that Seattle has no true fabric store. Otsukaya is a multifloor paradise of the ridiculous and sublime. It may be the thing I will miss most about Japan.

The fabric of this apron is hilarious and so cute. Pretty expensive, though. Note at left on the wall: Poky Little Puppy fabric. I am going to have to get some of that.

[Ridiculous monster-children!]

I admit that the following was a display from the costume section, but... what? And this is only a small selection of the polka-dots on this floor.

[Why would you wear a swan-feather bustier under any circumstances? Tiny top hat does not make it better.]

MUST THINK OF SOMETHING TO MAKE WITH THIS. I have figured out how to buy the display things, and it's not expensive at all. Currently designing a dress to use this and the super-cuddly knit solids I found.

[Polka dots and shading in purples and olive, wow]

WAAAAAANT. I think I was in the Shinjuku Takashimaya and one entire floor was devoted to fabric and yarn and buttons and etc. and I was SO JEALOUS. (Also they had a floor just for kimono and yukata, which I ogled at.) I wish my local mall came with a giant fabric/yarn/notions store.
