feeling springy
Nov. 30th, 2009 11:39 amNew policy: Make journal entries for major holidays at least; that way next year I can find out what I did, so we can distribute ourselves evenly. I have no idea what we did for most of the last several years, though I definitely know that 2004 was the year we hosted Thanksgiving at Casa Eldritch.
Thus: Sinus infection all weekend, ugh.
Was reasonably cheerful and interactive for the early part of Thanksgiving, which we had with
hattifattener's mom and her fabulous (chef/rocket scientist/queer lobbyist) neighbors, but flagged very notably as my Dayquil buzz wore off. There was a minor adventure on the way home when the car wouldn't start when we tried to drive onto the ferry, though it had been fine getting there. Battery issue. We got a jump from the nice ferry attendant, let it run a while, and were then able to start independently as was required to get onto the next boat. We even managed to get off and drive home without incident. Whew. Book read: A Drowned Maiden's Hair: a melodrama, which it certainly was, but I liked it a lot.
Friday and Saturday are a haze of soup, tea, and limeade with snot and pain on the side. Played a bunch of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, as I was too loopy for Scribblenauts. (On second thought, I am not that good at Scribblenauts sober. Maybe loopy is what I need.) The Zelda is easy yet satisfying, so a good combination. Read a bunch of stuff, Sly Mongoose which has zombies in spaaace, some Sarah Dessen, Diane Duane.
I had antibiotics from the last time my doctor thought I had a sinus infection, since I'd decided at the last minute that it wasn't, so I started taking those Saturday and felt some better yesterday and considerably better today. Maybe it would have gone away by itself as Group Health claims, but that hasn't been my experience. Also taking Sinutone, a repulsive herbal remedy that I think has helped in the past. At least the part where it's 50% ethanol ought to sterilize my tonsils a bit. One day I will try a vodka control.
Anyway! I am better today, a little energetic even though still kind of gross, and I bought TULIPS from the last-minute sale at American Meadows. I felt actual interest in digging in the dirt, and I have enough money, and yay.
