On vacation. Sick. Ugh. The illness was either brought on by sudden relaxation after the end of the quarter or by my possession of a great many fine YA novels right now.

(Girl Overboard: OH NOES I AM TOO RICH makes me a little grouchy, but otherwise this was excellent.
Suite Scarlett: Adorable, and I see a movie adaptation in its future.
House of Many Ways: A sequel, but an appealing one.
Skin Hunger: Amazing, and I would totally recommend it except that I am about to go mad; it's book one and there's no sign of any others yet.)

I did go last night to see Avenue Q, which was hilarious, and I just watched a marvelous video explaining abiogenesis. Other than that, I really need to go take care of my garden, but I'm not sure how much of my miserable snot-filled head is due to grass pollen, so it's hard to convince myself to actually do it. Much safer to play computer games and nibble cherries.

Oh, I'm sorry you're sick. G. is like that -- quite often he can hold off sick while he's really busy and then succumbs as soon as he relaxes. Good to have lots of good YA to read, though. (I'm trying to hold off on Skin Hunger until the others come out, but it's getting harder and harder!)

Hey, we saw Avenue Q yesterday afternoon! We were amused to see people walking out during the puppet sex bit. :)

Oh, that's funny. I didn't see any offended departures at our showing. (Maybe the 6:30 audience was more sophisticated. Or were we at the same one? It was light when we got out, so plausibly afternoon.) I admit I was surprised at the explicitness of the puppet sex, but surely they can't have been completely blindsided! Wim was saying he could categorize the audience by sight into "people who see lots of Broadway shows" and "people who see shows with songs like 'The Internet Is For Porn.'"

I figure I can read Skin Hunger again when the next one appears, but I am just dying to know about the central mystery. It's hard to discourage you from reading it when I almost always do read lone first books, but this one is especially hard to take.

No, we were at the 1:00 show. I'd've been annoyed if we'd been at the same show and not known it and missed meeting!

Yeah, a family of four (early teenage kids, I think) got up and stormed up the aisle about ten seconds into that number. As G. said, "That was pretty explicit for puppets without any genitals!" I don't see how anyone could buy tickets and go to the show without having some clue about its contents, however. Hello, giant signs saying "PARENTAL ADVISORY: 60% adult situations and 40% foam rubber" on the outside of the theatre.

I noticed the same dichotomy as Wim -- kinda interesting.
