status report
Jun. 16th, 2008 04:44 pmOn vacation. Sick. Ugh. The illness was either brought on by sudden relaxation after the end of the quarter or by my possession of a great many fine YA novels right now.
(Girl Overboard: OH NOES I AM TOO RICH makes me a little grouchy, but otherwise this was excellent.
Suite Scarlett: Adorable, and I see a movie adaptation in its future.
House of Many Ways: A sequel, but an appealing one.
Skin Hunger: Amazing, and I would totally recommend it except that I am about to go mad; it's book one and there's no sign of any others yet.)
I did go last night to see Avenue Q, which was hilarious, and I just watched a marvelous video explaining abiogenesis. Other than that, I really need to go take care of my garden, but I'm not sure how much of my miserable snot-filled head is due to grass pollen, so it's hard to convince myself to actually do it. Much safer to play computer games and nibble cherries.

Date: 2008-06-17 07:19 pm (UTC)I figure I can read Skin Hunger again when the next one appears, but I am just dying to know about the central mystery. It's hard to discourage you from reading it when I almost always do read lone first books, but this one is especially hard to take.

Date: 2008-06-17 10:02 pm (UTC)Yeah, a family of four (early teenage kids, I think) got up and stormed up the aisle about ten seconds into that number. As G. said, "That was pretty explicit for puppets without any genitals!" I don't see how anyone could buy tickets and go to the show without having some clue about its contents, however. Hello, giant signs saying "PARENTAL ADVISORY: 60% adult situations and 40% foam rubber" on the outside of the theatre.
I noticed the same dichotomy as Wim -- kinda interesting.
