We are so doomed. How can we have been working on moving for a whole month and STILL BE DOOMED?


Anybody who could come over to inject sanity into the proceedings would be much appreciated. If you can't make it, please consider instead coming over on Sunday for what I am still attempting to believe will be cleanup.

(Hi, people who live nowhere nearby. Tales of moving woe that turned out all right are very welcome, or whatever you think would be helpful.)

I had a dream the other night where I was moving, but since I was able to teleport in the dream, I just took hold of the piece of furniture and teleported it into place in the new apartment.

It was very nice. I wish I could do that in reality...

I got your urgent message but still have not got the hang of how gmail groups seemingly unrelated conversations (nor gotten it together to figure it that is a default setting I can switch). Which is my latest excuse for slow e-mail responses :)

When John moved Steph out of the apartment, he had to get the whole apartment cleaned up by 7am the day after all the helpers finished helping, because the carpet cleaners were coming. The moving had ended sometime in the evening, with lots of random smallish crap left unpacked and unsorted, and layers and layers of kitchen and carpet and cat filth yet to be scraped. The manager did not believe it would be clean, and was quite agitated. At 3:30 am I also was not inclined to believe it would happen. However, it did happen. There are unseen moving fairies.

I will be going in to work this weekend, but will come by betimes. If there is a specific two- or three-hour block during which you think I could be especially helpful, do please appoint me via SMS (link on my profile page) or voice. (I may be able to help more, but I can't probably commit to any *specific* time longer than that.)

Our last move was kind of like that. *shudder* I was trying to cheerfully tell Wim about how we got to have brunch with Deb at Mae's after we were finally done with the back-to-back all-nighters, but then he reminded me that he fell asleep at Mae's. But we were DONE!
