Um, I'm enjoying this show so far (16 12 episodes), but am I ever going to stop predicting its plot so accurately? In this latest set, I said aloud, "I really want Aang to do (X), but I suppose they won't really do that," and he totally did it. Wim points out that I am ideally situated to predict the conventions of an American cartoon borrowing heavily from anime; I guess I was just expecting more novelty. Do we get there?

I tried to watch some Avatar once and turned it off partway through because I was bored - my initial impression was "American cartoon trying really hard to be Naruto." But everyone keeps raving about it, so I'm wondering if maybe that's just because I caught an episode somewhere in the middle...do you think I'd like it if I started from the beginning?

I'm not that excited about the plot twists, but I love the humor and the snark. It definitely took a while to get used to though, and S2 is much better than S1.

I'm in it more for the excellent worldbuilding, gorgeous visuals, characters, and dialogue than for surprising plot twists.
