Dealing with consequences. Romances in which the protagonists are OF a culture other than mine, not just in it.

Brains and brazenness over brawn. Moonlit mist. Wispy tendrils of hair at the back of a girls neck that have escaped her ponytail. The unbelievably long-winded and rambling build up to reach one single terrible pun. Desolation and emptiness, both of scenery and of emotion. The meticulously thought out consequences of one tiny alteration of history. The knowing smile, when everyone else is adrift. Gathering the suspects into one room to explain how it all happened. Hiding your feelings from your true love for some mistaken noble reason. Naked sword blades in the rain at night. Eventually realizing that the best friend who has been helping you get the girl of your dreams is the one you really wanted to be with all along. Tranquility.
