Milestone #1 for the HPV vaccine is down: The FDA approved it.
Noticed on a billboard: In the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, it is apparently okay to be white or... hot pink. Before and after your pasty-white-chick run in the Juneday sun? There was black in the design, how hard could it have been to place it as skin on half the divided design? (Their site is really annoying on this computer, but I see that at least the colors are not constant. Still. Hollie or anyone, how do these people get money to make grants anyway? Do you pay them to be in the race?)
I tried to explain Livejournal, and the attraction of asynchronous interactions in general, to my acupuncturist today. We're actually a lot alike in getting overwhelmed by groups of people, so she seemed to get why I like it.
One of my Sprekelia formossisima bulbs has put up leaves, one has done nothing (perhaps due to its frequent mauling by squirrels), and one has the most beautiful flower. And the dubious canes of the 'Shreveport' rose are all right! I wish I could photograph the way the flower glowed in the dusk tonight, translucently orange.

Date: 2006-06-09 05:19 am (UTC)I have no idea how they get money to make grants. There is a fee for being in the race, but I forget how much. I think around $22 or so.

Date: 2006-06-11 03:06 am (UTC)I wasn't involved with the HPV study, sorry for confusion. My study was for herpes vaccine, but maybe Kay can get that one too before too long. (Apparently it works in women only, which is really odd, but vaccinating half the hosts would have to help.)
