IDIOSYNCRASY -- It's not a form of rule by anything, so 'cracy' at the end makes no sense. It's from Greek 'idios' (self), 'syn' (with), and 'krasis' (mixture). Greek transliteration doesn't use C for σ. The word has one C for κ, but that's only because we didn't yoink it directly and the French weirded the spelling.
