Ten Questions to Ask Your History Teacher is a really funny parody of creationists' manufactured controversy over evolution.

Also, finals are over! And they went well! I'll know just how well sometime early next week; apparently the U is cruel enough that grades are due Monday morning.

Incidentally, having had a quick look at that site, I find myself wanting to rant about the perfectly sensible hard-snowball-Earth explanation for the Cambrian explosion, which is simple and elegant enough that, while it's likely damn near unprovable because of how little geological evidence we have that's that old, I'm taking it as true, at least for the pruposes of background-setting in fiction.

I've never quite understood just how the Earth was to have gotten out of being a snowball, but it seems like we might very reasonably never find out. It certainly explains (better than the Cool New Trick theory) why there would be such a huge diversification.

Tangentially, what do you think of the idea of classifying the weird Cambrian fauna at something less than phylum level (http://www.pandasthumb.org/archives/2005/08/down_with_phyla.html)? It makes some sense, but I'm very reluctant to abandon our nice hierarchical system.
