America's favorite nitwit, G.W. Bush, has come out on the side of creationism in schools, again. At least the San Francisco Chronicle article is even-handed about telling us Bush wants "Intelligent Design Theory" taught in science classes. Even-handedness is insufficient, of course: verifiable results == science, while unverifiable beliefs == something else. Other articles I've seen on this are intellectually lazy enough to embrace the idea that everyone's opinion on everything is valid, [and here is a worse leap] so we should make sure to tell children about all of them.

"I think that part of education is to expose people to different schools of thought," Bush said. "You're asking me whether or not people ought to be exposed to different ideas, the answer is yes."

I agree. And that is why the Flying Spaghetti Monster invented comparative religion classes.

Keep tabs on this, if you like, over at The Panda's Thumb, where they rip creationists a new one several times a day.

(One last thing. Put down your drinks:
[Bush] said he did not ask Supreme Court nominee John Roberts about his views on Roe v. Wade. [Emphasis mine.])
