day 2, summer quarter
Jun. 21st, 2005 05:48 pmFound all my classes after eventually finding a map. (Later discovered that a place to get maps is in the bookstore, which is not on campus. Oh, of course, how silly of me.) The art class seems like it's very much what I wanted, a chance to do projects with a jumping-off point and a lot of available media. Bio class seems like it'll be good too, with a choice of field trips. I have now been to each class once.
Coming out of art, I found a young crow huddled over a sprinkler head. It had bluish eyes and not enough fledging to fly. I talked to it and stroked it a little to see if it was injured, and it seemed okay but in baby-bird mode (just sit there and things happen to you). I went to run errands but had to come back after about an hour because I was worried about it. As it happened, just then a couple of groundsfolk were coming with gloves and a box to pick it up, and they gave it to a girl who it seemed had called them. She took the bird-in-box, who only cawed a little when picked up and didn't fight, to her dad, an ornithologist. Happy ending, most likely. I sort of wanted a crow friend, but ornithologists would have a better idea what to do than I have.
