(Nonfiction included a little poetry. Comics included a drawn memoir which would otherwise have been nonfiction. The subcategories of fiction are nonexclusive. Whether something was YA was entirely up to me.)
A big year. I did more nonfiction reading than this, but I don't read most textbooks cover to cover.
Top ten fiction books new to me in 2004:
1. A Fistful of Sky, Nina Kiriki Hoffman.
2. The Years of Rice and Salt, Kim Stanley Robinson.
3. The Steerswoman's Road, Rosemary Kirstein.
4. White Midnight, Dia Calhoun.
5. Sunshine, Robin McKinley.
6. Cotillion, Georgette Heyer.
7. The Beacon at Alexandria, Gillian Bradshaw.
8. Sorcery and Cecilia, Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer.
9. Persuasion, Jane Austen.
10. The Goose Girl, Shannon Hale.
