Last night as we were making pie, I cut open a very tasty apple that had roots in the core. They'd gone through a hard spot, so the seed they'd come from could not be salvaged, but another seed in there had germinated too. "Plant it! Plant it!" said Wim. Heh heh heh.

I pointed out that it would probably produce a fascinatingly repulsive variety of apple, so we should definitely plant it, but Wim knows better. You are reading the words of a future apple millionaire; it will be the best apple ever.

You know what's weird? I've never heard of this before, and today I've heard mention of it twice. One of my students was saying the same thing, this morning. Weird.

I'd never heard of it before, either. No reason it shouldn't happen, I suppose, but two in one day is pretty odd.
