Finally, Wim and I have signed a lease!
The place is huge, four bedrooms and a ton of other space. It's the ground and second floors of a giant light-purple house (with sky-blue and magenta trim!!!1!) a few blocks north of Green Lake. There's a lot of road noise, because it's right next to I-5, but it's okay inside, and I get to play in the dirt! And the cats are welcome! I am so excited. (And still residually nervous, and nervous for later, but wheeeee!)
It's very close to North Seattle Community College, so I need to do some looking at their course catalogue this afternoon. They haven't gotten back to me about my application yet, where Seatle Central has, so I may attend SCCC for spring quarter and then switch. The buses are good from the new place, it wouldn't be that hard.
The house is huge inside, and there's new carpet. The bathrooms look like they need some maintenance, and most of the bedrooms are pretty small, but the kitchen is big and roomy with loads of cabinets and there's a laundry room with a full-sized washer and dryer. Did I mention that they're going to let me play in the dirt? And the owners are remodeling their part of the house, so they have the skills to take care of any problems. And it's purple! (Wim and I agreed that we would not want to paint our house purple, but living in one that's that way already is neat.)
There are still people living there, which is maybe not so good, but I'm sure that we can move a couple of days after the beginning of the month if we have to. There's a vacant apartment that's perfectly congruent with mine in this building, so it's not like someone will be moving into this one straightaway. Those people might be out by then, too, and the landlord said he would call us a week or so ahead of time.
We went to a celebratory lunch with my mom and found her some Thai food she liked, so it's been a good day all around. Now I try to flump down and de-stress some. Or stay keyed up and pack. Hmm...
