Friday

. Afternoon of misery. Lack of getting books.
. Epiphany, only a month and a day late.
. Spin the Bottle was quite good.

Saturday

. Late start. Pancakes, napping boy.
. Pajama day.
. Cleaned up balcony plants, some other productive stuff.

Sunday

. Up too early.
. Cleaned fish tank and watered plants. Gave pine trees a shower. Other productivity.
. Pie, Love Hina DVD, knitting.
. Dinner at [livejournal.com profile] dr4b & [livejournal.com profile] eub's place. Fun but should not stay up until 1am on Sunday.

Monday

(okay, is not weekend)
. Up late was still too early, v. tired.
. Reading Strings of Fate. (Look at this if nothing else.)
. Finished bag of carrots.
. Suckered into coming in early again tomorrow.
. Probably going to finish first sleeve of sweater.

You were right... the picture of Maocat was enough to get me to look at the other link. :) Nee!

Shouldn't be surprised to meet a fellow knitter. What kind of sweater are you working on?

Um. Sweater kind? :) I just learned. It's in a ridgy pattern made of stockinette and reverse stockinette, with garter stitch at cuffs and collar, and it's going to lace at the neck in front. (That part was kind of hard, but I did it! Go me!) Also the yarn cost way too much; I understand that's common.

I do not understand how buying yarn for a sweater can be more expensive than buying a sweater for the yarn.

Oh you can too. Economies of scale. And there's got to be one word for "making you pay for the entertainment value" but the one I wanted isn't it, hmm.

Also: smartass.

(Not that I'm grumpy right now or anything.)

I refer you to one David Rochberg, who once commented that it would be cheaper to grind up spaghetti to extract the semolina flour to make one's own pasta then to buy the stuff at the store.

At least, I think he's the one who said it. Maybe it was that one office mate I had.

For me the cost of yarn is mitigated by my allergy to wool, since I just try to buy decent acrylic. Technically, I'm very allergic to lanolin, and they don't seem to get it out of wool very well.

There's that funny story about the project I made for a community knitting group that caused me so much agony that I finally brought home a pair of latex gloves from work to wear while knitting. But I think I've gotten a bit off topic here.

If you ever want to geek out about knitting, let me know.
