A necklace in a shop window this morning, light brassy-gold metal shapes like maple leaves linked together and with turquoise hemispheres on each, prompted me to realize that I wish I had someone to hang all this cool jewelry on. I don't really want to wear a lot of it myself, but I want to buy it and be around it later while it's being worn. I think I need a girlfriend.

Wow. I'd volunteer for that. I'd like someone who was sensitive to what I was wearing. ;>

Now I'm waiting to see how many "Pick me! pick me!" comments this entry gets.

you could offer to have an operation, or at least cross dress a bit?

Hey, I've got long hair and a kilt, what more could she want?

For you to volunteer? Silly. ;)

I would, but I've alredy got my own damn collection of necklaces I rarely wear that I'm constantly adding to - I understand the impulse. I'm going to have to start selling these things again soon, or I won't have anywhere to put them.

Hey, she had her chance. ;)

It's a shame I stopped doing leatherwork before I got to clothing. You'd probably have a closet full of vests and shoes and things.

Well, it's not a shame for my pocketbook...

I've told myself that I'm not allowed to buy any more beads or beading supplies until I sell some stuff dammit. I need this hobby to be at least somewhat self-supporting. ;P

Mmmmmm... leatherworking. The Tandy leather store always smelled so good. Of course, I've long been wishing that I'd picked up one of those dumb dreamcatcher kits while it was open so I can make my CowCatcher, but meh. I suppose I could go to the bother of getting a pattern off the 'net or something. First, I think I will have coffee. Yessss, coffee gooooooood....

No comment I could make here would make it through the censors.

I have this really nice Roman tunic ...

(OK, so I figure you're going to be innundated with offers from women anyway, but since you provided that opening...)

How about if I just get in the queue without saying anything? :)

*laughs* I udnerstand that urge. I can never buy jewlery for myself. I don't wear it if I buy it for myself. I buy it for other people and put it on them. Though, there is a higher chance of me wearing jewlery if it was a gift. There are two rings and a bracelette that have made their way into almost everyday wear that way.

Yep. If it's a gift, I'll usually wear it (if it's something that fits with who I am, which most jewelry gifts do, because the people who get to know me well enough to want to give me jewelry know me well enough to pick things that will work). I don't really go out and buy things for myself very often. I think the last piece of jewelry I bought for myself was early this summer; a $10 necklace from a vendor at the Ballard Sunday Market...

The last piece of jewlery I bought for myself was years ago and it was an ear clip earring. The thing it, I let my ears seal up because I seem to be allergic to every possible kind of metal they make earings out of.

oh yeah. i have fairly non-mainstream tastes in jewelry, as in, jewelry stores that cater to the sort of people who buy diamond rings do nothing for me, but i like elise's stuff, frex. and i don't wear jewelry at all. i don't like stuff dangling from me anywhere, and my fingers don't like rings on them, and i am not gonna make any holes in my body.

but a girlfriend needs maintenance. :) i'm thinking of a mannequin. or in actuality, i've been thinking about driftwood-and-rock displays.
