It's really bothersome when there are so many courses of wrong action and the only right action, really, is to keep my mouth shut and do nothing. (That'd unquestionably be right action, in this case; it's not one of those things where it's just the least bad option.) Grr. I rant nonspecifically, hoping that my annoyance will be vented somewhat, but suspect that I'm just going to have to pick someone(s) to tell the whole story to.

And I need to figure out how to make a black robe before Halloween. The "dye white sheets black" idea has merit, except that it involves getting a white sheet (probably not hard), dying the white sheet black (potentially very annoying), and then cutting (easy) and sewing (aggravatingly near-impossible for me). Mph.

Or you could just get black sheets to begin with, or black fabric. What kind of robe do you have in mind? I want to make a costume for myself and am wary of overcommitting my time, but if it's way simple I could help with the sewing.

White sheets are probably less expensive to begin with, and I have lots of black dye, though I'm also wary of overcommitting time. Way simple sewing: I want to make a Snape Fangirl outfit, so robe construction is pretty minimal - fold a sheet in half, cut a hole for the neck, sew under arms and down sides for sleeve/body definition, tada. Hemming would be nice, but I'm not picky. ;) Seriously, though - I can do everything to prepare it but the actual sewing; sewing machines hate me and try to kill me when they get the opportunity. I can cut, pin, measure, pin hems, hand-stitch for short lengths, etc.

I just looked over to my right, and realized that there's a black sheet or tablecloth or something covering the gaming table! It'd be perfect! Unfortunately, it almost certainly belongs to somebody else, who is probably unwilling to give it to me. So close!!!
