Wow, people are pretty well informed about cat microchips. Thanks. I'm going to take the little mip to Animal Talk Rescue for a scan later this afternoon (possibly when I am a big sap and go home to check on him during lunch). I didn't feel any chip, but they'll do it free. They didn't say whether they could find the owner from an ID, but I guess I'll find out.

I can't feel the chips in our kitties - but I haven't checked too hard; I'm a bit squicky about looking for foreign objects embedded under their skin. Which is a bit odd, on reflection, since I'm not at all shy about showing off my Noroplant...

Anyway. PAWS might be able to help you; at any rate, they're a no-kill shelter, so if you do have to leave the kitty with them, you're at least assured that they'll definitely take care of him. If you had the ability to keep him for a while, you could always take a photo and put up flyers - we'd be glad to help you with that over here at SqueekyHollow. Unfortunately, we really don't have the resources to keep another kitty for more than a few days (as has been amply demonstrated in the past). And double what [livejournal.com profile] sebboi said about the Humane Society - I found that out when I called about the kitten I found in Humboldt many moons ago. They won't deal with animals at all unless you're willing to give them up. I'm sure they have perfectly good policy reasons for doing that, but it still sucks. :P

Someday, I'm going to have lots of money and free time and I'm going to spend a lot of both at PAWS. I hope I get a chance to come over and see the kitty before a permanent home is found for him. :)
