"Spin the Bottle" was pretty great last night. They spread the raffle out over several breaks between acts, and I won two prizes on only four tickets! (One very very bad novel and two tickets to "Verbatim", another play, which treats of interesting stories from local workers.) A man called Jason (whom I've always thought was cute -- there's a fairly static StB core crowd and most of them know each other) read an amusing and nicely written story from his blog, though he then neglected to give us the URL. There were other good acts, including Sgt. Rigsby and His Amazing Silhouettes, but the high point of the show had to be Toni Basil's "Mickey" played on the marimba. It ruled. I learned that I know more of the words to that than most people, which is a little worrisome. But it was way cool!
Also, Wim's sister and her longtime boyfriend were there. (She doesn't much like legal marriage either, I gather.) It's always kinda nice to have the missing degree of separation around. (C & M know a good chunk of the core crowd, and I don't. They make me a little insecure themselves, though I like them, but they also serve a valuable role as social lubricant at StB so I don't feel so left out.)

I remember my other dreams vaguely, but the one I had right before I woke up was about Raven from Snow Crash (a nicer version, at least to me, no forehead tattoo, and no awful-sounding mustache -- but still pretty badass) and having sex with him on a public train. What's that about?

What's "Spin the Bottle?" It sounds like fun.

It's a monthly late-night cabaret held by Annex Theater in the Cap Hill Oddfellows' Hall. First Friday, 11pm, $7. Sometimes very cool, always at least okay. I recommend it.

So that "Spin the Bottle" part wasn't one of your earlier dreams? :-)

As for Raven, did you find the sex scene between him and the teenager in Snow Crash disturbing, and repress it, maybe? Having sex on a train just sounds like you've been watching a lot of old movies. :->

(Hi!)

No, StB is quite real, though I admit it's weird.

Disturbing? Nah. Why would I? It's incredibly funny, and it's not like Y.T. is underage in her head. If she'd been some naive thing it might've been different. I just read SC recently, that's all.
