Mac OS X, baby
Apr. 3rd, 2002 03:06 pmOn my way back from Taco Del Mar, corner of 35th and Fremont, I met a strange woman dressed in a long stretch-velvet skirt and a very pretty blazer with slight green iridescence.
"What you got loaded on that bike?" she asked.
I expressed my confusion. She repeated herself. Nope, still confused.
"Electronics." she said, narrowing her eyes. "Software."
"Er, nothing." I had heard her muttering to herself before but had hopefully figured that she was rehearsing lines for a play or something. Nope, strange paranoid lady.
"I suppose you're all innocent and pure, then," she scoffed. "She looks pretty innocent!" she declaimed, apparently to the people on the opposite corner. (My fourth wall remained intact, at any rate.) She then set out for the other side of the street, grumbling about how the light hadn't changed but it was time to go.
The light changed a moment later, so she knew the intersection, which is fairly complicated. I haven't seen her before. If I do again, I'll keep you all posted.

Me, I tend to meet slightly transfigured street saints who tell me, "You can live in this world, and you can be in heaven or you can be in hell." (I think he had a point. I wonder what he would have said to your software lady, though -- or she to him.)
