I say kawaii, you say kowai
Mar. 24th, 2002 10:54 amIt's been an anime-watching weekend. Wim and I saw the Cowboy Bebop movie Friday night -- very good, but not enough Ed. (Never enough Ed.)
He went home Saturday morning and I had a headache, so I watched Cardcaptor Sakura pretty much all day. It was a shame to waste the sunlight, but if it's making my head hurt, there's not a lot I can do to put it to good use. Wim goes "aaah" whenever I rent Cardcaptor Sakura stuff, and his reaction when I buy it is even more entertaining, so I considerately wait to watch it until he's not around. (Well, I also tend to embarrass myself by squealing at the cuteness and cheering on the queer subplots, so it's just as well that he pretends to a greater disdain than he feels.)
Mission for today: Acquire more Cardcaptor Sakura! Whee! The teeny manga collections are supposed to be up to 6, and the last one I saw was 4, so I'm going to ask at the comic store. There should be another video out, too, so I will call Suncoast. (I wish I knew a good independent video store around here. The list of affiliated companies I saw in Suncoast last time was freakishly long.) If they've got it, I'll brave a mall.
Also: watch "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back", which is due at 7 tonight. Not sure I'm still in the mood for something stupid, but I hate to waste a rental.
Possibly: help a friend move. Have to find out when Wim can watch the movie first, and whether he still wants to. He's probably awake by now.

Date: 2002-03-25 08:42 am (UTC)I don't have a DVD player, and Scarecrow doesn't have any new VHS stuff for sale. Considering how few things are released subbed on VHS any more, though, I think it's time for a DVD player real soon now.

Date: 2002-03-25 09:39 am (UTC)Anime Kingdom is really really easy to miss. They're in a second floor space whose doorway is between a couple of restaurants across the street from Radio Shack. Once you pass the post office look really close for a tiny paper sign on a door that has their name on it. They're through the door and up the stairs on the left. They have a website at http://www.animekingdom.com. Even if you don't have a DVD player you should go, they got tons of manga and stuffed Keros. At least they did the last time I was there.

We live just down the road on 20th.
If you ask they're happy to order more. They've done so for me in the past.
