I have a new bike! The color I was looking at is here, but they didn't have any the right size. I ended up having them build one for me. I didn't ask about the color, so I ended up getting a mostly gray bike with red front wheel fork and red accents. It's still nice, just not as much my colors. I feel very girly for caring what color my bike is, but most people care what color car they get, so I suppose it's not unreasonable of me.

This bike rides like a dream. It has much larger tires than the last one, which was a dirt bike, but they're not too thin for me to ride on gravel. Sometimes these are called hybrid bikes, but the manufacturer's web site seems to be trying to avoid calling them anything. :) I got to work about ten minutes earlier than I thought I would have, too.

I owe my wonderful bike to Wim, the best boyfriend ever, who gave me this immensely thoughtful present. (We were talking about it even before I wrecked the old one, in case anyone's wondering.) All did not go smoothly with the bike-acquisition, but we worked it out and now everything is fantastic. I am completely thrilled. Granted, I did just finish a nice ride on the bike, so part of this is the endorphins talking, but I was really happy last night too.

The old one is still unridable due to handlebar misalignment, and I think I'll try to get it fixed up to take to Treehouse for Christmas. Kinda funny how my sympathy for the inanimate bike came first and then I figured out I could give it to disadvantaged children. Whatever works, I suppose.
