Some of you guys need to put Caroline Stevermer and Jo Walton on your interests lists. I am the only fan of those two who currently has them listed. If you don't know their writing, there is no time like the present!

I'm obviously familiar with Jo's work, but who's the other author? What sort of stuff?

(Not that I can afford new books in the near future, mind, but...)

Caroline Stevermer has written two books by herself and I think one with Patricia Wrede. (It appears to be only two. One web site said there was a third, but nobody else had ever heard of it.) They're wonderful. Have you read Swordspoint? There's actual magic in Stevermer's world and it happens onstage, but otherwise the cleverness and matter-of-factness reminds me of Swordspoint quite a bit. Her style is a bit more subtle than Sayers, more like Austen. I'm certain you'd like them as much as I do.

(Ha. Nifty. Kate Nepveu's site has a review comparing Stevermer and Walton (http://www.steelypips.org/reviews/whenking.html).)

Hey, there are more! Dammit, Amazon didn't have these when I searched 'em directly yesterday...

I'll get back to you. :)
