Blood

I gave blood this morning at a drive in the Adobe parking lot. They were taking appointments for drives; those with appointments got to be at the front of the lines. (They've never taken appointments for drives before when I've tried, so this is news.) The drive schedule is here:

However, PSBC is asking that we in Seattle make appointments to donate next month. The blood we're giving now will be unusable in 42 days, so there could be a major shortage then. Donors aren't permitted to give blood again for 56 days, so some of us need to hold off. Their press release about it is here:
http://www.psbc.org/community/press/_frm/frm_press0020.htm

I still donated today because Adobe's the only place I can really get to and still get to work after. (Biking more than that half-mile would qualify as some of that "strenuous activity" I'm supposed to avoid.) I'm glad they took me. I was worried I'd have low iron. Off to drink massive quantities of water now.

Places here have been swamped. Between that and the low-grade headache and tired I was feeling anyway, I figure that my holding off a week or two is not a bad thing at this point. But I will be making an appointment to do so later this week. (Make the appointment, that is.)
