too * for my own good
Sep. 5th, 2001 04:03 pmSo I just donated my tax "rebate" at http://www.giveforchange.com. I could've gotten most of the way to and from London for that, but I couldn't resist the lure of matching funds for Planned Parenthood. (The ability to send a sarcastic gift card to the White House did not, surprisingly, factor in, though I certainly availed myself of the option.)
I am not entirely sure how I feel about this. From what I've read, it's cutting into whatever tax rebate I would be getting this year, which is low to negative if I've got my deductions tweaked properly. At the same time, I am being stubborn about the idea that I should be a good little automaton and boost the economy by spending windfalls.
Actually, spending it on a ticket to London from Vancouver would have taken it out of the American economy just as well... But I still feel like I did the right thing.
