I never know what counts as "real activism," but it's awesome that you spoke up. It would have been hilarious if you had said that thing about time-traveling Victorians!

I've seen that deliberate ignorance encouraged as antiracist activity, actually! Making people make their prejudice explicit by feigning confusion. "I don't know, what DO they say about Mexicans, and why? What's a towelhead? Why is a joke about Jews and money funny?" Anyway, YMMV.
