I wrote a shell script! I can batch rename my time lapse images with the incremented-by-fives names I want! I don't care that half of you could probably do that when you were twelve, today it is me who did it!

Today I looked at a nasty different-versions-of-Windows sysadmin problem, neither of which I know anything at all about, that ate much of yesterday, and saw a way I could rearrange network components to in effect say "sod this for a lark" and get the relevant computers talking to the things they could see, so. Always something new and rewarding to learn even for those of us who have been programming since we were twelve, though in this case the reward was "the lab folks will stop with the panic and leave me alone to angst over why my actual project is not working."
