I like that he mentions NIGHTS AT THE CIRCUS; I think that's the one with the weird scene in it that I've had to discuss with every other person I've ever known who's read it, where a scene change is brought on by sort of fabulist means that are never really explained.
strangely, the end of STEPPENWOLF (also strange fantastical stuff though the whole book isn't like that) is confusing and weird in the same way as the NIGHTS AT THE CIRCUS weirdo train/egg/transition scene.
I'm actually not a big fanatasy reader but don't mind some of it tossed in around other story elements.
