Wiscon highlights so far

• All plane stuff went really well.
  
  • First seatmate was a big liar. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt when he claimed the descending landing gear were us breaking the sound barrier, as maybe he was just checking to see if I was listening; I chose not to argue with him, as that was a test I wanted to fail. But then he was on the phone to people just after landing and telling them he'd been on hold for 40 minutes. Liar!
    
  • Second seatmate was easily made to see that I was reading kthx.
    
  • Frontier has an animals theme. Look:
    
    
  • Books finished: King's Dragon, Kate Elliott; Snakehead, Ann Halam.
  
  
• Missed the reading I was unrealistically hoping to catch, except for a bit about sex and hot peppers
  
• Got Ooku v3 at the bookstore though!

  • Delicious east African food
    
  • Cheap, overly plentiful ice cream: the lemon meringue ice cream actually works with marshmallow in place of meringue, but the root beer float ice cream is only okay.
    
  • Eventually found the lake by way of frat row and hung out until bugs bit us too much
    
  • Got badges, met a few people new and old, heard amusing tales of con conflict
  
  
• SHOWER. Seattle is not yet at the stage of summer where I really need a shower at night, but Madison is definitely there. No tub on this shower; accessible but disconcerting.
  
• Next up: disturbing kalmn by reading one of those books that you have to read backwards!

OMG BADGER

I thought you meant, like, a DRAWING of a badger, not an awesome giant photo of a badger that GETS TO FLY ACROSS THE SKY.

It's like I can't look away.

I wonder if they would put a CAPYBARA on their planes if I asked really really nicely, we could organize a (non-crazy?) letter-writing campaign?

I think they're going for Midwestern animals. The other ones were like a coyote ("Carl") and a fox, or something. But it's worth a try. Not sure how to make us seem sane about it, though.
