The only possible explanation for the way that my pant legs have begun to catch on my bike gears is that my calves have shrunk. That is a weird result to get from riding a bike, but I don't know what else it could be. I find it... ironic? No, just annoying, that bike riding is causing bike riding to become more difficult.
Riding up to the Fremont Bridge today, I heard the "bridge is going to open" horn. I had found out on Solstice that it doesn't necessarily mean "bridge is going to open right away", so I didn't hurry much. Then I heard the bell! I zoomed up all speedy-like and stood beside the bridge with my hand on the footing to feel the machinery moving inside. (Our relationship is progressing. I haven't touched it like that before.) I'd gotten there just as it was nearly all the way open, so I watched it finish opening and a big fishing boat go through. As the bridge went down, clanking and humming, I noticed a crow walking around on the supports on the underside of the bridge half across from me. It strutted and hopped along the horizontal part of a beam, and then when the horizontal part became vertical, it switched to the new horizontal. Perhaps it was on a dare? It was obviously enjoying itself. I watched it until the bridge had closed completely, and it didn't fly off. As I rode away, I saw a crow come flying from underneath the bridge to swoop up and land on one of the towers.
I think I have a metamour. :)

Date: 2001-06-27 04:01 pm (UTC)a friend once wrote out some whole story about a temp job that involved a copy machine she started feeling like she was getting into, like, it was her main co worker, she dressed for it, it would copy stuff differently depending on how she acted.
then her story veered into some office gossip and i think even an affair or something.
she ended the entire piece with 'nothing ever happened with the copy machine', which I have always loved as an ending line.
i'm sure the bridge appreciated your attention today though, I don't mean to DISMISS your feelings :)

Date: 2003-05-04 10:00 am (UTC)I don't think I would have called it sexual, but it's easily as sexual as a lot of my girl-attractions. Maybe I just don't know what to do with bridges. :)
