jinian: (Winry kicks ass)

I was fool enough to go into Joann's today and found the most amazing fabric. It looks like it was designed by Junko Mizuno, and I had to have it.

I have two yards of the flowers and one yard of a coordinating amazing cloud print:

Wim arrived to meet me for a movie, so I didn't have time to find the perfect Mizuno-esque clothing pattern that somehow wouldn't be too insane for me to actually wear in the world. Maybe a top with plainer skirt, or vice versa. (I can probably get more of the fabric if necessary, and there are several other amazing prints in the collection if I really want to go crazy.) Any ideas, o brilliant readers?

1) a skirt interspersing them, which you could wear with a plain shirt
2) a quilt WITH LIGHTUP SQUID that you could make into some kind of jacket
3) above but make into some kind of BAG
4) some kind of hot dress that you could make sleeveless and then wear with some plainer undershirt/sweater/tights combo to mellow it out a bit
5) maybe use the material as contrast in some plainer-color skirt or dress so that it's only bits of wilder color
6) just go completely nuts and make whatever you want and only wear it for special occasions (like when I am over!)
7) use it as lining for some kind of cloak or jacket

A duro or kimono-style dress. Here are some thoughts:

Check the Jo-Anns website. Starting Wednesday, they have different patterns on sale at different times, and I only ever buy the patterns when they're on sale like that.

I sort of want to make a quilt with those. mmmm.

Ooh, I like the Simplicity one. Thanks. I was thinking quiltish thoughts too, but the pattern repeat is very large on the floral print. Check out the others in the collection, though:

(I am confused by the proliferation of slashes in the URL, but they're real.)

Ooh, the lining idea is especially great. I am leaning toward either a dress like [livejournal.com profile] wiredferret suggested (which has the advantage of looking Mizuno-like in the bodice) or a plain straight skirt in front with a gore and ruffles in the back, which is totally impractical but awesome.
