Woeful conflict: We have tickets to Princess Ida at 7:30 on July 19, but EMMA BULL is reading at the U Bookstore at 7! Terribly torn. (Additional factor: Will Shetterly is talking about his book too. This is less good than just Emma Bull would be.)

Would locals be able to make it to my place for a graduation-celebrating cookout on July 21 or 22? Probably it would be bring-your-own-everything, since I am going from undergrad to grad student with no income in between.

Shannon Hale at the U Bookstore for Austenland tonight! I own no Hale and have zero dollars, but I think I'll go see her read anyway.

I want to see Emma Bull! I'm hoping July Coronation doesn't get in the way.

I will be out of the town on that date of 21-22. I wish you luck in deciding what to do.

Yay, potluck barbeque!

Um, I have tickets to Princess Ida for the 14th, so I'll let you know if it's worth going to? Seattle G&S usually is, but once in a while...

Will the G&S Society let you exchange the tickets? I know they let contributing members do that, though I've never actually done it. (We're going to the matinee on the 14th.)

A good production of Princess Ida should be supported. If you want Emma's autograph, I'm sure the bookstore would have her sign something for you. A little of what she might talk about may be covered by the Territory Q&A she just did on her LJ...or perhaps that'll just be the starting point for new questions.

Of course, if you go for Princess Ida, you won't get to hear Emma sing...

I have checked my brain, and am available either 21st or 22nd for potluck BBQ, and would be happy to bring as much as I possibly can, and yay! :)

My parents will still be here on the 21st (but not the 22nd), so, if that factors into things at all for you? I can talk to you some privately about whether or not that would make the 21st vs the 22nd more stressful or less stressful for me, but, yes, I should be able to make it that weekend.

Possibly (probably?) but we're going with a handful of other people, and only a couple days before finding out about the book reading did we work out a date to see the G&S thing that we could all agree on.

(Did you ever resolve this? I am waffling due to feeling odd.)

Yeah; sadly Princess Ida is a family outing, so we're going to that. I'm counting on the U Bookstore's recent addition of podcast author events, which I might suggest to you as well if I could find them on their web site.

I just finished the book, so probably don't get to repine too much.
