80s cartoon-opening montage (Youtube, 30 min) from [livejournal.com profile] lithera

In some ways, the best is first: The one-to-one correspondence between He-Man and She-Ra and the OMFG factor of both.

I HAVE CRINGER SHOES!

There was a Ghostbusters show with a giant ape? ... Okay, that is the absurd Egon hairdo I remember. (So geekster cool, hee hee.)

Heathcliff and other cats show! I still really like this theme song.

... Gilligan's Planet?! I NEVER heard of this.

There was not even a token girl in Voltron. I am amazed.

Gadget! Gadget in space! Eee!

Where is Tale Spin?! Bitches! [The same Youtube poster has a similar video for 90s cartoons, and Tale Spin appears there.]

Oh my god! I loved this Nintendo show! They always had Link at the end, and I had such a crush. Actually I thought the entire Captain N part was stupid, I just wanted to see the end.

I had blocked all memory of the Super Mario rap(s).

Ooh, here it is! Yay Link! Yay Gannon who is a wild boar! ... Wait, that was incredibly lame.

Super-science and sorcery get exactly the same picture. And that is so He-Man, how did they get away with calling him Thundarr?

I loved TMNT. This is so funny. -- The second opening is crap and openly contravenes comics canon! Grr!

Ugh, it's that tiny meeping unicorn. I could never bear to watch the D&D cartoon.

Aw, anticlimax, I never heard of the last one.

I loved the D&D cartoon. I just bought the whole set on DVD. Cheesariffic.

That Ghostbusters with the ape (which sucked) was the reason the good Ghosbusters had to be re-dubbed The REAL Ghostbusters. The one with the ape came first, just didn't last very long.

I really liked He Man. I couldn't stand She Ra. It was the sweetened-up, girlified version, and it made me want to barf even then. Like pink legos with little shopping mall kits.

What freaked me out about the Gilligan's Planet was that with the exception of Ginger, they got the entire original cast to do the voices. Erk.

Wasn't Voltron a re-dubbed Japanese cartoon? Would explain the lack of chicks.

Dude, I loved Thundarr the Barbarian (and Ookla the Mok). Totally. Princess Ariel used to give him so much crap, cuz she was about 40,000 times smarter and more level-headed than him.

And by contrast, the last one was the one I kept thinking "Where the hell is it? C'mon, it's gotta be included, it's just like the rest!" Blackstar was one of my favs. I have no idea why, now that I look at it again. Blackstar looked like a gender-swapped Snow White with those little weirdos keeping vigil over him. Probably wasn't accidental, I guess.

Travesty is that Tarzan was one of my favs, and they didn't show that one. *sniffle*

That cartoon almost made them have to change the name of the Ghostbusters movie. They shot at least one scene with both Ghostbusters and Ghoststoppers, finally going with Ghostbusters after they cleared the rights with Filmation.
