snow, day 2

Being incredibly smart and weather-conscious, I decided today was a fine day to go to the mall and peer at video games. (No luck there. I am too in love with Okami to look at another game, apparently. How weird is that?) Further, I did not change my plans when the snow started falling shortly before my bus stop, nor when the bus stopped and let everyone off because no vehicles on the road were moving, which was only about ten blocks from my house. Nope, I walked to the mall and poked about its environs for a while, then found that even fewer buses were moving because it had continued to snow -- surprise! I used to walk from the college across the highway from the mall to home, so this wasn't too bad.

40 minutes of fairly pleasant walking: another gold star for physical activity on top of my already-done yoga of this morning, and very pretty snow, especially on the lavender and cedar of Lebanon.

Have you seen the new Zelda on the Wii?

It's like Shadow of the Titan, Okami and Zelda all had a love baby.

Not yet, but I heard about the remote-control swordplay, which sounds amazing. Part of what's great about Okami is that it's doing interesting stuff with the interface. I'm not sure about playing Zelda ever again, though, since I bounced off Ocarina of Time when the controller setup made me nuts (and wasn't customizable, wtf?).

Yeah, they only slightly improved that with the port over to the Game Cube, but honestly - I am turned off by the Wii-mote Controller and all it's gimickiness. And the 'tumbler' function is about as lame as it gets. It feels... 'perverse'.

But I get exactly what you're saying about Okami, with the brust strokes and timing? A very, very beautiful game. Imagine my delight when I was about 5 hours into the game, expecting a finale? And instead I find out I have just wrapped up the prelude!

It's good shit.
