One house on my way to the 66 bus has narcissus blooming already. I was tempted to leave a note for the residents, since I'm not sure they walk along the outside of their house on that side very often, but I haven't done so yet. My narcissus clumps are looking perky and a few inches tall, but not yet floral.
So far I'm very pleased with my impulse grocery-store bulb buys. The ones I planted earlier in the winter are already coming up strong, one with a flower on the way. A bunch of them got planted just today ("Orangery" daffodils with mixed blue hyacinths, "Botanical Mix" daffodils), but they were already sprouting a bit. Lots of those went into pots, largely because on day n+1 of rain in Seattle, the Big Dirt is more like the Big Mud. The Orangeries and hyacinths went into the ground, though, in Lee Valley's clever underground bulb baskets.
Also planted today: "Royal Virgin" tulips (5 in 2 pots with mystery daffs)
Also coming up: Crocus kotschyanus, though it won't bloom 'til fall; lots of squills; chionodoxa.
Moved pots from drysville on the porch into the yard: Poeticus daffs from
eub's old yard
Still to plant: quite a few things
