hmm. quilt.
Oct. 16th, 2004 11:15 amInterestingly, the first pattern I tried is the only one for which these squares work well. One of the other patterns I liked requires half the squares to be enantiomers of the other half, and I've sewn them all identically. I could rip out half of them, and it might be fun to have one pattern requiring reflection to pick out from among the rotation-only ones, but it turns out there's another problem too. I made the angled seams meet the straight seams on the edge of the piece, not at the seam allowance line. Such trouble to make up your own quilt patterns, I tell you. So, for now, it looks like all four ladybug regions will be in my favorite of the four patterns, and the other ones will be left for future projects.
Still no idea what the framing parts will look like, though I got two nice, subtle navy prints to be part of it. Maybe I'll poke at it while we're visiting Wim's mom today and tomorrow.
