Definitely should have done this sooner, but I finally moved the three warm-colored roses to their new home. I cleared a bed off the side of the porch that didn't have one yesterday (okay, the side that didn't have one and also is not paved, picky people), and dug in some "Clay Buster" organic stuff. It wasn't too terribly clayey right there, but it was some, and the roses will like the mulchy bits.

Two out of the three roses had name tags buried deep in the grass or ivy around them. The little red one that was marooned in the lawn is labeled "Climbing Altissimo", so I made sure to put it by the porch upright instead of at the other end of the bed as I'd vaguely planned. The yellow didn't have a name tag, and I don't really remember it well enough to find a lookalike. The apricot-orange one, which doesn't seem to be sold much any more, is "Shreveport". I'll take pictures of them myself, too, assuming they deign to bloom. They were still bare of root, so I expect they'll do well, even if they did lose a bit of root length. (There was nothing to be done; Shreveport's roots had gotten in among the quince suckers. I saved most of them.)

I have to admit, I first read "Climbing Altissimo" as... well, you can guess. :]

Would you be interested in bringing your garden tools over here for some companianable digging? Or, alternately, would you be willing to loan me tools, if you have, say, a shovel and gloves? I have a hand-trowel, but that doesn't do much for the serious digging that needs to be done. I'll even fetch you a chair from the house and let you sit and watch/critique while I dig. ;)

No, I have completely failed to guess, as have Wim and Eli both. Now you have to say.

Sure, that sounds like fun. The time of ultimate stress is over, though there is still some stress to be had, so I should be able to schedule something soonish. (Or maybe scheduling would curse the weather. Hmm.)

there needs to be some time this weekend during which you take me out to your yard and 'splain about the things you have there. i am not a gardening sort myself, but it is good to see people talk about the things they are excited about.

"Climbing Assimo." Y'all just aren't immature enough for my, uh, "humour," I guess. ;]

It's supposed to rain (and maybe snow *snort*) this weekend, so maybe this isn't the best time - but scheduled or not, it's not like I have a lot of stuff taking me out of the house all the time. :) Most days, if you called up and said "Hey, I'd like to come do gardening with you," I could come pick up you and whatever equipment you'd like to bring. So, just let me know! :)
