inktober 3
Oct. 3rd, 2014 11:00 pmBird's nest fungus! (Some kind of Cyathus, perhaps C. stercoreus.) Found outside the Herbarium with a pointer from our awesome front desk person. I took reference photos today with my good macro camera and drew it up at home. This is more or less a developmental sequence, lower left to upper right. The fruiting body opens and eventually spills the little dark-gray periodoles onto the ground, going farther the more the rain splashes them. Did my best to represent that some are missing in the later stages, but ink is hard!
