Wednesday reading
Jun. 12th, 2013 08:57 amAlmost all rereads this week-or-two, some slightly pathological. I reread Dragonsinger not once but twice, and I'm halfway through a second round of Sharon Shinn's Troubled Waters too. I assume the intensity of comfort I require will be reduced after final thesis submission on Friday.
Also reread: Hopeless Savages (first two series)
Also read: Hawkeye v1, in which the Aja art is amazing
- several Bess Crawford mystery novels, which somehow match my mood even though the reason I started on them was that
telophase found their WWI setting depressing
- Jessica Day George's Dragonskin Slippers, in which I must admit the sense of peril was reduced knowing the plots of the two later books, and also her writing improved over time
- Hapless Queer Avengers, which I found pretty great until novel-length work #5 (eventually they get away from characters I care much about)
- an old issue of On Our Backs
- Zenn Scarlett by Christian Schoon, which has an A+ premise (girl exoveterinarian on Mars, mysterious disasters and developing psychic powers) but a disappointing execution and an obnoxious cliffhanger
Bounced off: book about some other very annoying character from the Bess Crawford writers
