Some people are still being told to write gay folks out of YA SFF novels. This may be worse in the subgenre than elsewhere. Certainly there are some YA SFF novels with important queer characters in, and we're working on a nice list linked at that post. There's still a problem, though, and it needs fixing.

He has a history of anemia, so that was probably part of it. They found a small bleeding bit in his colon and fixed that. As of lunch, he's allowed to eat, and tonight I expect him to sleep well. Hopefully after that he'll actually feel better.
