proud of PI
Apr. 27th, 2010 10:43 amYesterday I met PI outside our building as she was leaving, and she told me how great our new undergrad researcher is and how she was going to pile more work onto that person. Then she asked me to keep an eye on the undergrad, and "maybe praise her" and stuff. Wow! Management skill! She realized:
(1) I am more nurturing than she is. (IT ARE FACT)
(2) Many people work better when they feel taken care of and empathized with.
(3) She could do something about this with the resources she had.
She's always going to be kind of difficult, but I am pleased with her and with my contribution of supportiveness to the lab culture. Yay.
