blueberries!
Jul. 15th, 2006 06:35 pmCottage Gardens, my favorite blueberry farm, isn't open yet this year; it seems like the berries have been a little slow to ripen, possibly due to the week of anomalous coolth we have just had. So
rubricity and I went to Mountain View, a lovely place near Everett with very pleasant breezes which carry smells of cow dung an awful lot of the time. They had just opened for the season yesterday, and the branches were heavy with berries. I think I only picked about ten bushes, nowhere near completely, and I came away with eight and a third pounds of blueberries. Pie time! I intend to evaluate blueberries and gooseberries combined, which could be good or bad, I'm not sure.
I also got to talk to Llyra and Sean, though
roobug was off somewhere baking a buckle. Blueberry conversations are great, low-pressure and relaxing, like crafting conversations but out in the sun and the wind with delicious snacks in your hands at all times.
Also: $1.25 a pound.
